The numbers have changed since 2002. The proportion of people with higher education has increased since then, as the younger generations in the last 20 years have pursued higher education to a greater extent than the older generations in society, who, in their youth, did not have access to SU (introduced in 1970) or simply took over their parents' work. Looking at individuals aged 25-45 in present-day Denmark, 41% have a higher education. Some might ask why the percentage is 'only' at 41%. It's important to remember that a higher education, typically 5 years in school, is not for everyone. For some, the classroom is a nightmare. Thus, some people don't aspire to a university education but are content entering the workforce without a university degree. However, what's essential is that all those who desire a higher education have the financial flexibility to pursue it.
